Education First
EF creates cultural learning experiences around the world, giving confidence and freedom to people of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds. As Director of Experience Design, I managed a senior team of creatives and experts defining what the future of language, education, and travel looks and feels like.
EF Tours Mobile App
For nearly 50 years, EF’s primary business has been offline, creating real-life experiences for learners, whether it’s in terms of language, culture, or place. Today, their product offerings are largely for young people who expect a high level of digital interaction.
Through expert interviews, shadowing actual tours abroad, and user experience exploration, my team designed the first on-tour app. Thoughtfully personalized and updated in real time, the app will give teachers, students, and tour directors easy access to itineraries, maps, secure payments, media sharing and immersive games.
Design System
With several UX designers dedicated to one or more squads, and each squad owning multiple platforms, a Component Based Design system was a must for brand alignment, product consistency, and rapid development.
I expanded on a set of brand elements and guidelines, iterating for inclusivity, auditing for accessibility, managing front-end development, and documenting for all disciplines.
“Krystyn brings unrivaled experience to the table and inspires those around her to set the bar a little higher. She can strategically communicate with stakeholders, turn around, and get down in the weeds with a designer. You'd expect someone with this much experience to have at least a little ego, but Krystyn checks it at the door.”
