Action
A publishing embed that connects readers to the power of their civic voice, founded by Jordan Hewson, daughter of activists Bono and Ali Hewson, and founding editor of Global Citizen. In a single four-week sprint, I developed flows, interface components, prototypes, branding elements and workshopped opportunities for value creation and user engagement.

Change the headlines
Action modules are embedded in news articles, prompting readers to take a poll, sign a petition, tweet at a policy-maker, or donate to a nonprofit without leaving the page. If you’re inspired to take action after reading an article, a press of a button allows you to add your signature to an NGO-backed petition, amplifying the power of your support by combining it with multitudes.
The first priority was to get the experience right — the modules had to feel trustworthy and seamlessly integrate with articles. Armed with user research, publisher interviews, and a beta run on the Huffington Post, I created a customizable design that is flexible enough to engage readers to act while mirroring a publication’s identity.

Branding and mark
The Action logo is a circle surrounding the symbol forequilibria, a state of balance that can only be changed by an external influence. The symbol also mirrors social media actions like repost, regram, and retweet.
"Thank you for your help in getting Speakable to where we are today: a successful, human company that makes civic participation a smarter experience." — Jordan Hewson, Founder and Chairwoman
